About Me

Dr Pupan Patnayak is a Consultant- Neonatologist and Paediatrician at Aster Women and Children Hospital, Whitefield. He has earlier worked at the NICU of Rangadore Memorial Hospital, Bangalore, and completed a fellowship in Neonatology. He has been trained under Dr. Swarnarekha Bhat(Pioneer of Neonatology in Karnataka), Dr Janaki(Senior Neonatologist, Academician, and Teacher) during his Neonatology fellowship Since then, he has been associated with Aster Women and Children Hospital, Whitefield. He has played a pivotal role in the treatment of complicated post-operative cardiac surgery babies on ECMO, while in Narayana Hrudalaya in pediatric cardiac ICU. He has also worked in Rural Development Trust Hospital(RDT) at Bathalapalli, Ananthpur, with a vast working experience in PICU and NICU, and had an opportunity to work with intensivists from across the globe. Dr Pupan has also been part of transporting and retrieval of the sickest of neonatal babies and in the treatment of extremely premature babies. He specializes in the treatment of HIE, therapeutic cooling, RDS amongst the other sick newborn cases. He has been part of the core team involved in the treatment and management of extreme premature babies at Aster Women and Children Hospital, the smallest being 470gm birth weight, who was discharged successfully and doing well developmentally on subsequent follow-up visits. He is a certified NRP trainer and has been involved in the training of nurses, Doctors, and staff in Aster Whitefield hospital, as well as various other maternity homes for a safe delivery and resuscitation of a newborn.
