Dr.Sirisha Kusuma B is a specialist in Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology and Diabetes. She received her medical degree (M.B.B.S.) from Andhra Medical College, Vishakhapatnam, and MD Pediatrics (PGIMER), FRCPCH (UK), Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine (SickKids, Toronto), Fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology & Diabetes (IGICH, Bangalore). Dr. Sirisha Kusuma completed her formal Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology and Diabetes from Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health, Bangalore. She also acquired wider experience in the same field by doing an observership at Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, and was part of the fellow school conducted by APEG & APPES (Australasian and the Asia Pacific Pediatric Endocrine societies) in Darwin, Australia. She is also a recipient of ISPAD (International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes)’s Allan-Drash fellowship at Addenbrooke’s Children’s Hospital, Cambridge, UK, and ESPE (European Society for Pediatric Endocrinology) fellowship from Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Manchester, UK. Academic activities: Core Committee member for the IDEAL program: The first dedicated Type 1 diabetes educator course She has been working actively in advocacy projects like increasing awareness about universal new-bornscreening forcongenital hypothyroidism Multiple publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals Presented posters and papers, and is an invited speaker in pediatric endocrine conferences Editorial board member for JPED- Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Reviewer for Indian Pediatrics, International Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolic Syndrome: Clinical Research and Reviews Joint Secretary (2022-2024) of ISPAE (Indian Society of pediatric and adolescent endocrinology). She is also a member of ES (Endocrine society), APPES (Asia pacific pediatric endocrine society), GPED (Global Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes), and IAP (Indian Academy of Pediatrics) She is experienced in managing children with the following problems: Short stature (Height problems) e.g., Growth hormone deficiency and treatment, poor growth in IUGR babies, etc. Early or late puberty Thyroid problems in children Adrenal gland disorders Childhood weight problems, weight management in overweight and underweight children Childhood Diabetes: Diagnosis, counselling, education and support in daily management and long-term monitoring Disorders of glucose metabolism e.g., Congenital hyperinsulinemia, hypoglycemia of childhood Disorders of bone, calcium, and Vitamin D metabolism (including fragile bones) Parathyroid gland problems Pituitary gland disorders Disorders of sexual differentiation (DSD), Ambiguous genitalia Endocrine disorders in chronic systemic illness like cancer and thalassemia etc
