Dr Kavitha Sakamuri, is a Consultant Pediatrician & Pediatric Endocrinologist based in Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Hydernagar & Madhapur Branch. She completed her undergraduate degree in medicine in Manipal Academy of Higher Education and undertook her pediatric training within the Northern Deanery, U.K. Doing a post graduate diploma in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Guntur Medical College, provided her a comprehensive knowledge of Neonatal-Perinatal medicine and assisted her with better understating of causes of prematurity, neonatal implications of fetal distress in labour and management of complex foetal problems including congenital anomalies. Dr Sakamuri started her Pediatric training in the U.K in 2006 and since has devoted herself to Pediatrics. In her clinical practice, she provides advice and treatment to children and families with general pediatric, neonatal problems and specialises in problems related to DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis), Type 1, Type 2 & atypical diabetes,growth & pubertal abnormalities, disorders of sex development, bone & mineral disturbances, hypoglycaemia, obesity, adolescent gynecological problems, late endocrine effects in pediatric cancer survivors and other disorders relating to the adrenal, parathyroid, thyroid, & pituitary glands. Dr Sakamuri remains active in research and education of junior doctors; was an interview panel member for recruitment into the Pediatric Speciality Trainee Programme in the U.K, Instructor on NLS (Neonatal Life Support) course U.K, Trainer for simulation teaching U.K and involved in setting up questions for RCPCH examination boards, U.K. She lives in Hyderabad and is married with one child. She is a childhood obesity advocate and is involved in the promotion of healthy eating habits, she has done a clinical research in “Looking at sugar intake in 1-5 yr. old children consumed by drinks and the possible association with obesity”
